The first page of each skill assessment details the key skill being assessed and provides examples of the kinds of activities where the skill is practised in the classroom.
The Teachers' Rubric provides explicit descriptions of how a child performs at each learning stage, whether they are at Beginning, Developing or Mastering stage.
The Children’s Rubric provides explicit descriptions of skill performance at each learning stage in child-friendly language based around the three skill stages: I’m getting used to it, I’m getting better and I’m really getting it.
The Learning Advice includes detailed, practical suggestions to help children move from Beginning to Developing stage of performance and from Developing to Mastering stage of performance. This unique element of the programme – for every skill in every subject at every stage – is at the heart of Assessment for Learning.
The recording software lets teachers:
The recording software lets teachers record their observations of individual children’s skill performance easily and quickly, including giving and updating an overall level of a child’s performance and the dates of assessments.
The class information sheet lets teachers see the overall learning stages of all of the children in their class. This sheet gives them all the information they need to identify differentiated groups in each subject. Teachers can view and print this information for a selection of, or for all subject areas. A teacher can also select a child from their class and view their overall learning stage for one or more subjects in this format.
A pupil’s individual record sheet can be used to describe the child’s performance in each subject, by date. This enables teachers and parents to easily see the progress that a child has made throughout the year. All record sheets can be printed and used as reference for the year ahead, for parent’s evenings, and for discussions about individual children and groups of children.
